Quotes of the Day!

“Stand back sissies, you’re using my oxygen.”

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

“Call me Ishmael, Jr.”

Mobier Dick: Forget the Whale, Let’s Sell Used Cars!

Whenever I see a book that is so-and-so’s son or daughter I always think – would this book be published if this person wasn’t using their mom or dad’s work as a starting ground? Then I feel bad for being close-minded. Then I call my mom and ask her to get famous. Then I usually get distracted by some comic books.

Anyhow. I think in the case of this fictional Moby Dick sequel, I would read that book. There could be a whole series. Forget the Whale, Let’s Go Shopping! (the limited release Mall of America version); Forget the Whale, Wait What Whale (the limited release for grandparents); Forget the Whale, Now Where’s My Pants? (global release).

Have a good weekend everybody!

Quotes of the Day!

“Either this is madness or it is Hell.”
“It is neither,” calmly replied the voice of the sphere, “it is knowledge.”

Flatland

But now he had these words, these words like drums and singing and music.

Brave New World

Tomorrow night I’m flying homeward bound to Phoenix!! Well, the Phoenix area. So in my particular case it won’t be wisdom, it won’t be hell, it’ll be Phoenix (which is closer to the hell-side as far as weather goes).

The second quote I picked because I just really like it.

Anyhow … I’m flying home for my bday, which is Friday. If you want to be overly rad you should post my blog on your facebook/twitter/whatever!

Come back tomorrow for the two dumbest/best videos I’ve cranked out yet!

Quotes of the Day!

“It was there, on the night of October 11th, 1975 that I turned on the TV and watched the premiere episode of Saturday Night Live. “Fuck”, I thought, “they did it”. The new comedy had been brought to the airwaves in New York by people I didn’t know. And they were incredibly good at it, too. The show was a heavy blow to my inner belief that I alone was leading the cavalry, and carrying the new comedy flag.”
– Steve Martin, Born Standing Up

(Note: I don’t consider myself as carrying the flag for a new kind of comedy.)

“Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it.”
– C. S. Lewis

Notice a theme? Last night I bought a t-shirt for the girlfriend unit. On the front of the shirt is the following haiku:

Hello Space Robot
That’s the pretend band I’m in
I play the whistle

Below that there’s a picture of a robot. On the back is the blog name.

All this in an attempt to get more people reading the blog, and from there the hope that things will magically snowball. Occasionally I get bummed out, thinking how unlikely it is that I will reach my goal. Thankfully, I enjoy writing when I do write, and any and all compliments that are passed on to me are greatly appreciated. My day is lifted instantly when I come home from work and see that someone has said something nice.

(Note 2: I’m not baiting the hook here. I’m doing more along the line of saying thank you thank you to any folks who comment or say something nice.)

Anyhow – have a good weekend everybody!!
