The text of the postcard is
Dear Ellen,
In Udaipur, as in nearly all places we saw, our guide told us about palaces and the amazing art that went into them. Then, the guides would “kindly” offer to let us see this art being performed even today … at a store/art workroom. From this I learned that: ancient art, dying art, government subsidized and “my most honorable guests” are all ways to say “hey buddy, get ready for sticker shock!”
Sincerely,
