My Zombie Roomy (2/26/13)

Still no word from the Zombie. Will I find a group of zombies outside my apartment waiting to devour me? Or will they come over and just hang out and smell up my apartment? Who knows! But, there is a positive and negative from this.

If anyone ever talks about slowly going crazy, I’ll be able to relate really well. That’s the positive. On the negative side … Well, everything else, really.

But let’s not dwell on that! Instead, let’s talk about … Bacon flavored popcorn!

Bacon, one of man’s best friends, but the apartment’s worst enemies (that smell lingers like few can). Another smell lingerer? Popcorn!

While the Zombie has been gone I’ve been relishing these forgotten stinks. Yes, I’m afraid for my life AND I sort of miss the goon, but it’s also nice having my apartment not stink like death.

Why am I making my apartment stink, rather than buying flowers or some other good smelling thing? One, flowers cost more than bacon. Two, bacon is delicious and flowers are (probably) not. Three, the transition back to the stink of death will be less painful this way. See, logical and fun!

I’d stay and write more about my potential impending doom … but I have a sudden craving for kimchi!

Band Name Recipe

I’ve been doing research for bands to see at South by Southwest this

year (I’ll have a post some time soon of fun new songs) and I think I have a simple recipe for coming up with a band name. Keep in mind, this is for a hipster band that probably no one will hear of. Your songs will have less views than a squirrel sleeping on a trash can (who am I kidding, what artist could have more views than that?).

Adjective + Food Item

That’s it! Simple, isn’t it. Obviously you want to go for less often used adjectives, and unique foods.

  • Gregarious Oatmeal

You could even throw the word the in front if it feels appropriate.

  • The Chaotic Quiche

Other articles are good, too. Here’s a few to get you going … Have at it!

  • An Angry Quesadilla
  • The Mighty Muffin Top
  • Silly Sweet and Sour

Quotes of the Day!

The quotes today are from John Steinbeck‘s Cannery Row.

***

Its inhabitants are, as the man once said, “whores, pimps, gamblers, and sons of bitches,” by which he meant Everybody. Had the man looked through another peephole he might have said, “Saints and angels and martyrs and holy men,” and he would have meant the same thing.

And perhaps that might be the way to write this book – to open the page and to let the stories crawl in by themselves.

but Alfred has triumphed over his environment and has brought his environment up with him

Doc would listen to any kind of nonsense and change it for you to a kind of wisdom.

While he was looking for a question Doc asked one. Hazel hated that, it meant casting about in his mind for an answer and casting about in Hazel’s mind was like wandering alone in a deserted museum. Hazel’s mind was choked with uncatalogued exhibits.

It had become his custom, each time he was deserted, to buy a gallon of wine, to stretch out on the comfortably hard bunk and get drunk. Sometimes he cried a little all by himself but it was luxurious stuff and he usually had a wonderful feeling of well-being from it.
